WHERE CULTURE IS VALUED AND SHARED SINCE 1971

Welcome to Islamic Heritage Society Inc.

In 1971, The Ladies Auxiliary of the Islamic Cultural Center was established as a cultural, ''non profit and non political organization'' affiliated with the Islamic Center of New York. The organization was founded by the wives of Muslim representatives to the United Nations and staff members of the Secretariat as well as American citizens .
In 1973, the organization changed its name to ''Islamic Cultural Society'' to embody its widened objectives and later to "Islamic Heritage Society Inc." as it expanded its activities in 1993. The organization is governed by an unpaid board of directors.

The IHS provides a vehicle through which Americans, as well as people from the international community  can preserve their history and culture. Mainly to form and foster enduring friendships among people of all religions. Women of the Islamic world carry with them a wealth of information of their respective countries, cultures, and customs, which when shared with others - promotes tolerance, understanding, and racial harmony.

This mutual education forms the basis for an organization, which is dedicated to preserving the Islamic Heritage and disseminating information about history, art, and culture as well as providing humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Thank you for your generous support at the Islamic Heritage Society’s annual fundraiser.

It meant a lot to us that you generously donated your time and resources to help make this special day a great success!

Because of you, we were able to raise $20,000, and for that we are truly very grateful. This amount was donated to the UNHCR which will provide much needed humanitarian assistance in Yemen:   Just $60 could provide safe water to five families for a whole week. US $ 220 could provide a newly displaced family core relief items including mattresses, blankets, a solar lamp, and a kitchen set which help to alleviate the initial hardship of displacement.  US $500 could help a displaced family of seven to secure a roof over their heads for six months, through UNHCR-provided rental subsidies.

We at the Islamic Heritage Society are highly motivated and driven to continue finding more ways to raise awareness and funds to help alleviate the suffering that results from terrible humanitarian crises worldwide.  With your continued support we can reach these goals and provide much needed hope for a safer, brighter future.

Please accept our warmest regards and highest considerations.

Yours sincerely,
